Monday

Yoga with Jess

Yoga can not only make you feel better physically – it can also make you well mentally.

Yoga offers a great, low-impact way to increase feel-good brain chemicals, which help decrease anxiety and improve mood. Join us for coffee and free yoga with Jess.

Classes are every Monday at 10:00 am. Refreshments are available & yoga mats are provided. Donations welcome.

TUESDAY

Open House

Research has shown that by interacting with others, we can train our brains to improve motivation and memory formation, whilst also protecting the brain*. Supportive social situations can result in us being happier, learning better, and living longer.

Every Tuesday from 10 am until 7 pm, the wellness centre is open to everyone for a brew and a chat. Come along for a cheerful Tuesday pick-me-up, meet like-minded people and be part of the Get Fit 4 Mental Wellness Family.

Some funding is available for travel if travelling costs are a barrier for you.

These sessions are open to all parents and carers every Tuesday at 2:00pm. We are also offering a session once a month on a Saturday just for fathers. Funded by the Calderdale Cares Partnership.

TUESDAY

Sound Bath

A sound bath is a meditative practice incorporating music and sound. Said to encourage deep healing and balance on a physical and spiritual level, sound bathing is typically used as a way of managing anxiety by soothing the nervous system. It works by allowing true relaxation in a calming and comfortable environment, facilitated by the healing vibrations of sound.

Join us on Tuesday evenings at 7 pm to immerse yourself in the beautiful depths of the vibrations generated by bowls, gongs, drums and chimes.

TUESDAY

Running Club

Physical activity, such as running, significantly benefits our mental well-being. It can help to increase our self-esteem, reduce stress and anxiety to improve the quality of life for people experiencing poor mental health*. Come and get fit with our running club. We meet at the Hub at 7pm on Tuesday for a local run. Suitable for all levels of fitness, newcomers are always welcome.

The group brings together people who understand the difficulties that ill mental health can have, with a focus on promoting mental wellness and supporting each other.

Friday

Body Combat

Body combat encompasses a full body workout and offers many great benefits such as building endurance to empower yourself. Here, you can learn to punch, block, strike and kick your way to fitness with us. Curious? Come along to find out more! Classes are held Fridays 6 -7 pm.

COMMING SOON

Mini-Medics Training

Coming soon! During the summer holidays we are offering mental health awareness training to young people aged 9 – 15. This leaves them with an age appropriate understanding of mental health difficulties, what to do when we experience them and how to support our peers through difficult times. They also receive a recognised certification. More information coming soon! Funded by Calderdale Cares Partnership.

COMMING SOON

Suicide Intervention & Prevention Training for Professionals

We are rolling this project out starting with play-gym staff from across Calderdale. Do your staff know the signs of someone suffering with poor mental health or suicidal thoughts? Do they know what to do when presented with someone in this situation? This course offers free training to your staff on not just how to look for warning signs, but crucially, how to effectively intervene. We are currently applying for funding to extend this training to hairdressers, barbers, beauty therapists and tattoo artists and we are also designing a project for bar and restaurant staff too. Watch this space!
